Workout this summer in the Beltline With summer quickly approaching in Calgary, more and more people are taking advantage of the sunshine before Mother Nature can decide if she wants to prolong winter for another month (it’s happened before!). Joggers, cyclists, and group boot camps are out of hibernation and can be found at any the parks and running paths in Calgary at any given time. Whether you work or play in the Beltline area, a wide variety of activities are readily available so you can stay in shape this summer while still enjoying the sunshine. 1. Pull out your dust-ridden bicycle and show it some love by taking a relaxing ride on one of the many paths along the Elbow River and 17th Ave. Take the scenic route near Victoria Park in late June to catch a sneak-peak of the preparations for the Calgary Stampede. 2. Feeling like you may have packed on a few pounds during the winter months? Then join the Soldiers of Fitness for a butt-kicking workout that’s sure to not only strengthen your body, but your mind as well. Their boot camp classes are modeled after actual military workouts so prepare for plenty of push-ups and calisthenics in order to get that 6-pack you’ve always wanted.

If you and your co-workers are feeling a little drained by noon, don’t make that second pot coffee, instead ask your employer to sign up for corporate personal training sessions. Not only do you get a chance to get out of the office, you can also sneak in a killer workout at discounted rates.5. Take advantage of the various parks and green spaces in the Beltline area and get your daily exercise while hanging out with friends. Inexpensive equipment like volleyballs, free-weights, and hula-hoops make getting an intense work-out fun and with the added bonus that you have control of the music.
